To get the Margi DVD-to-Go card to work in Windows XP, you should first download the WDM-based drivers from Dell or from the Margi website, and unzip the files to any temp directory of your choosing. (Do NOT download the MCI-based drivers as that is for Windows 95.)
Then with your system fully powered up, and when you have the XP Desktop displayed.:
1) Insert the Margi card into your ZV-enabled PCMCIA/cardbus slot (XP won't do anything at this point)
2) Go to your control panel and choose Add Hardware (I use Classic View to see this option)
3) Select "Next" and the Hardware Wizard searches for new hardware that hasn't been installed.
4) A question "Have you already connected this hardware to your computer?" appears, and you should choose "Yes"
5) A list of hardware will appear. The Margi "DVD-card" should appear with an exclamation point (in a yellow circle) at the top of the list.
6) Choose the Margi Card, and when it states that the hardware is not XP approved, choose to install anyway.
The prompts will then ask for the location of the Dvd card drivers, and you should browse to wherever you unzipped the WDM drivers.
And just to re-iterate, you really need to make sure that your Dell system has a PCMCIA / cardbus slot that supports Zoom Video to get the Margi Card to work. If you do not know if your system has a ZV enabled slot, you should check out the specifications of your notebook in the downloads section or check the Knowledge Base.
