Dell Utility Partition for Latitude C840

I have a recently acquired Latitude C840, with an unpartitioned (C: only) 40gb hard drive, running Win2k sp4 on FAT 32.

At the moment, it has no Dell utility partition.

I want to partition the C840's hard disk into

1) a Dell Utility partition, analogous to my C800's Dell Utility partition of 16mb. Various people at Dell have told me that the Dell utility partition is either essential or helpful in running Dell's Latitude C840 diagnostics.

2) A C: NTFS partition for Windows 2000 (which I will reinstall) and applications, and

3) A D: NTFS partition for data.

Physically, at least on my C800, Dell's utility partition comes ahead of the C: partition, it's unlettered, about 16mb, and it's mostly freespace. I can't find anyone at Dell who can tell me the Dell Utility partition's size or content on a C840, with UXGA screen, 40 gb hard drive, and 64mb Video RAM, and 1gb RAM.

So when use I use Dell's Win2k CD to format the primary (internal) physical hard drive, how will I set it up to get an initial unlettered "Dell Utility" Fat 16 partition, large enough for my C840? Or would that C840 utility partition again be 16mb, as on my current Dell Latitude C800?

As for the utility partition's content, Dell's support downloads website has a Utility Partition upgrade that I am hoping is a "full" upgrade that does not depend on the utility partition's having its original content. I hope to run that and put its content into Dell's Utility partition

If anyone reading this knows how to create an unlettered FAT 16 partition from a Win2k CD (Dell is on the Win2k CD's label, but my understanding is that its content is no different from that of an ordinary retail Win2k CD), please let me know.
