Dell recovery partition in NTFS

Here is the thing,

a couple of weeks ago, my win7 booting broke, so i tried to recover it with a win 7 dvd but i coudn't, so i intalled win 7 from the dvd as if a didn't have a recovery partition. then i made a partition and, i guess, when i did that my file system changed to NTFS.

no that windows is working i looked for the recovery partition but i found uot that it is ntfs too...

I used partition wizard and it tells me that all files are inside the partition but i can't see them in windows intarface because the unit does not have a letter and files are hidden...

my question is the following, can i fix my recovery partion so i can restore my laptop with that configuration? since all files are there, can i make a dvd or something (bootable)?

Hi Cdiaze,

The recovery partition can be accessed from the F8 menu to restore the system to factory defaults. However, as you have already re installed Windows 7, you may not be able to access the partition any more.

I would recommend you to delete the recovery partition, once it is deleted extend the main partition, install all the factory installed soft wares and then install Dell Data safe local, this will create an image of the current system setup and you will be able to access it.

Follow the steps below to delete the recovery partition using Disk Management:

  1. Open Computer Management by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-clicking Computer Management.‌ Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

  2. In the left pane, under Storage, click Disk Management.

  3. Right-click the recovery partition, and then click Delete Volume.

        4.  Click Yes to delete the volume.

To extend the partition right click on the C drive in disk management and then click on extend partition. Once this is done the system will be having only one partition with the operating system.

Make sure you download all the required applications and software on system, you can install the factory installed software by logging in to My Dell Downloads.

You can check the following link for more information on My Dell Downloads.  http://dell.to/QfHYqG

When you are done with the installation. You can create a new recovery partition or recovery media with the current system image on it by installing Dell Datasafe Local backup.

You can install Dell Datasafe Local from the following link. http://bit.ly/jmNmZt
