Disk drives check up every start-up

Question

In my system now a days disk is checking every start-up and restarting the the system . How to stop that check up?

Hi Dinesh.P,

This happens when the computer is force shut down.

The Check Disk tool checks for errors and attempts to fix any it finds.

Run Windows Recovery Environment and execute "chkdsk c: /r" to fix the file system and check the hard drive for errors. To run the chkdsk.exe tool, you must start Windows RE.

To run check disk, follow these steps:

Put the Resource DVD Drivers disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
Press a key when you are prompted.
Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
Click Repair your computer.
Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.
In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
Type chkdsk.exe c: /r, and then press ENTER.

Also, run diagnostics on the computer. Restart the computer by holding the FN and Power button to run the diagnostics.

Hi timcat4843, What is the model of your Dell? On most laptops, there is an Fn key next to the left Ctrl key.

Hi Rajesh,

In my Another system if i opening whatever files that files are delay to open and also copying file to right-click delay the option.

But opening the files folder is no problem. How to fast up it the opening the files.

Hi Dinesh.P,

Check the status in safe mode with networking. Restart the computer and tap F8 on Dell logo and select Safe mode with networking. Now check if the issue persists.

Also, try clean boot. Below steps would help you clean boot:

Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or provide confirmation.

Configure Selective Startup options

In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.
Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
Note The Use Original Boot.ini check box is unavailable.
Click the Services tab.
Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box.
Click Disable All, and then click OK.
When you are prompted, click Restart.

Run Fixit on the computer.
