Error during creating new drive in unallocated space .
Hello,
I just ran Dell recovery disc as my windows had crashed and as a result all my former settings and partitions were deleted.
Now I am missing my D drive and when i try to make a drive in Disk Management from unallocated space, it gives me an error saying
"You cannot create a new volume in this unallocated space because the disk already contains the maximum number of partitions".
My disk management shows the following partitions:
An unnamed drive - 78MB - Primary
"Recovery"-Primary
"OS(C:)"-Primary
Unallocated-228.12GB
Please Help

Windows allows a maximum of four primary partitions - you already have those, so to create another, you must delete one of the existing ones first.

Thanks for replying.
Actually I dont mind making my hard drive logical but I am not getting that option.
And secondly which drive should I remove if i have no other option.
I dont what the first drive is for.

Since you're starting over anyway, and the others are useless, delete all but the 78 M (diagnostic) partition and start over with whatever partitioning scheme you'd like to use.
