External Hard Drive and High Speed Ports 2.0

I bought an 80gig. "Seagate" external Hard Drive to back up my info. It connects thru a USB high speed Hub. When I turn my Ext. Hard Drive on, My computer flashes a message:
"The USB Mass Storage Device will function at reduced speed. You must add a High-Speed USB host controller to this computer to obtain maximum performance."
What kind of Ports do I have, and What do I do to get a "High-Speed Port"?
What is it?

The  message you are getting is normal if you are using a computer with USB 1.1.  Since you didn't mention which model you have we can't look it up for you.  Use the "Dell Support Tools" at the left of this page, look for your computer on the "Manuals" page, and see if the service guide or user's manual contains a specifications section.  That is where you will find your answer.

Got it figured out. Thanks. Turns out my older computer (Dimension 4300 from about 4 yrs ago) has USB 1.1.  I went out and bought a "5 Port, 480mbps, USB High Speed 2.0 upgrade card."
It was a very simple installation. You just pop in the CD that comes with it to load the Driver, Restart, Turn off Power to Computer, Open it up and insert the card in the extra bus inside the computer.
The card wonderfully enhances the speed of things that connect thru USB in my computer; such as: My PDA, Digital Camera Card Reader, External Hard Drive, Scanner, Printer. Each one of these things runs much faster than before. A nice bonus is that my Internet Connection "page load" speed has increased a bunch, as my Modem connects by USB also. 
Hope this helps anyone else frustrated by slower USB Data Transfer Rates.
