GX620 2nd SATA Drive install

Hi all,

Can someone help me.  I am trying to install a second SATA hard disc to a GX620.  The system is a mini tower, and hasa working 40gb drive installed running XP.  I am trying to add a 500gb Seagate drive to be used as a second hard disc for storage.

Unfortunately I can't get the system to find it.  I have installed the drive and connected it using the SATA port on the motherboard.  The one right next to the primary SATA connectors as per the manual diagram I found (not 100% convinced about this) I have been into the BIOS and set SATA 1 to yes.

No joy.  System just says SATA 1 drive cannot be found on boot.  Same with Dell Diag program, that can't find the drive either.

I know I am doing something stupid, but I thoight it better to ask the experts rather than mess with it too much.

Hi Auto_Caller,

Your manual says SATA hard drives should be connected to the connectors labeled "SATA0" or "SATA2".

Thanks Osprey.

It pays to speak to someone who knows what they are talking about.   Worked like a charm.

Have a good day
