HP DVD Movie Writer dc3000
Good morning I am in the process of buying the above dvd movie writer and I have a DEM-4500 running xp system.. The requirements for the writer is...

Thank you for visiting the Dell Community Forum.
While that product has not been tested by Dell, your system should meet the minimum system requirements that you listed.

The spec may be OK but getting the HP DC300 to start up on a Dimension is another thing altogether. I've spent a frustraing 2 weeks disabling Roxio and Adaptec CD burners, changing my DOS BIOS USB settings and generally trying to avoid boot hangs, device conflicts and all kinds of other issues with this peripheral. Nothing so far works, so I've installed it on my laptop (different chipset) whereas both Dimensions on my home network reject it with a code 10 error message on the device driver. Can anyone offer any definitive guidance on how to make an HP DC3000 work with a Dimension 4x00?
