Hard disk upgrade on Dimension 4100
Hi
I've got a Dimension 4100 866mhz running WinME at A05 BIOS which currently has a 20GB disk which I want to replace with a larger disk.
What is the largest disk that this model will support? Would I need to do a BIOS upgrade or any other upgrade etc in order to support it?
I appreciate any help.
Thanks

BIOS release A09 for the 4100 made a minor change in the way the hard drive size was reported in the BIOS. Other than that there was no added support for drives larger than 137 gigs. To go with something larger would require the addition of a ATA Controller card or use a disk overlay software. If you're considering the BIOS upgrade then A11 is the latest release and it can be found here.

Hi
Thanks everyone for your answers & suggestions...I'll go with a 120gb disk & BIOS upgrade & initially try it as a 2nd disk.
Thanks again
