Hard drive warranty

Hi,

My seagate drive momentus 750gb hard drive has just failed in my dell xps laptop.

My dell warranty has expired back in January, but after searching around the web i believe that it is possible that the hard drive is still under manufactures warranty. i have done an online check with seagate but its has asked me to go back to to dell as it is an oem purchased drive.

Can anyone shed anylight if it is likely that the drive is still covered and how i might go about getting the drive replaced.

many thanks

ian

Drives sold with systems carry no warranty beyond the system warranty - if your system is out of warranty, so is the hard drive.

Hello Mini84,

In addition to what Ejn63 has said, I would also say that a hard drive shipped with the computer holds the system warranty. If you want to replace the hard drive, please contact our Expired Warranty support (US Customers only). In case you do not have a backup of the data, you may contact Drive Savers and get your data backed up.

Please write back for further queries.
