Help to recover files after system restore

I had to do a system restore on an Inspiron 1545.  I selected the option to save my data but when it rebooted I don't see them.  There is a Dell Recovery partition but I don't know how to access files (Pictures, documents, etc.)

I am using Vista

If you did a system recovery, about the only way you're going to get your data back is to send the drive off to a data recovery specialist - even then, expect only a partial recovery, as it's just about certain that many of the files you had were overwritten.  If you DO want to employ a data recovery service, note that the price will be high (at least several hundred to over $1,000) -- and IMMEDIATELY stop using the system until after the drive recovery is done.  Every time you turn that system on and boot it, more and more of your lost file clusters will be over-written.

Gillware and Drive Savers are two respected data recovery services - they'll give you an up-front estimate of the cost (and likelihood of recovery).

Dell recommends you run their RecoverBot project.  You will boot up a bootable CD that will run recovery software.  It will require a blank USB drive for it to do it's business.  It will show you a listing of the recoverable data before you have to activate. There's a small fee if it works for you.

you can get it by calling 877-624-7206.  They will either mail you a bootable CD or give you instructions on how to download and burn one yourself if you have a cd/dvd burner.

You will only get back some of your files as (a large portion of) the HDD has been written to when you did the restore and every time you used your system since that time. It's important to note that when you need to recover files from HDD, stop using the HDD, take it out of the computer and seek knowledgeable or expert help (depending on how important the data is).

As for Dell providing a paid for tool to recover some files, as in this instance, i would look elsewhere. Either an expert recovery provider (if your data is extreamly important and must be recovered) or some knowledgeable people that can use (open source linux) solutions where the HDD can be mounted read only. Anything like else may be sub par and make recovery less likely....
