How to merge or delete EISA partition
OK, long story, short version, had a file corruption in VISTA, had to re-install everything, I did this several times, now I see that I inadvertantly tried to install to Disk 1 - thinking that if there were 2 disks, logically they would be Disk 1 & 2, not 0 & 1 - this has left me with a 78 MB partition there called EISA - I know that it is to do with recovery and all that but there is another on Disk 0 for that right - it is only 47 MB -
Question, how do I delete this or merge it into the remainer of Disk 1, step by step if possible? There is absolutely nothing in the other partition, which is only 148.97 GB on the 160 GB disk - is that normal? Is there more space to recover?

I do not think that you are understanding the situation - booting off the VISTA disk is what created the extra partition in the first place. I made the mistake of thinking that disk 1 was the 'C' drive as I already explained. I realize the difference in the reported capacity of the disk.
Now that is out of the way, I found a free program call "Cute Partition Manager" (Google if you ever want it) and used that to delete the EISA partition, then deleted the main partition, then I created a single partition of some 152,000+ MB. When I went back in to Windows, I had to do a Quick Format; then it reported the disk as 149+ GB, so now there is nothing there.
Just to repeat, on the "C" drive I still have the usual Dell required partitions that are installed when using MediaDirect, which is about 2.5 GB, the EISA files, the VISTA partition and then the main disk storage area.
Problem solved! :smileyvery-happy: now to get some programs back on board and working........
