How to stop 'Windows Installer' window from coming up on reboot?
Am running Windows XP Pro, SP2 on a new Dell laptop. My printer has a
scanning and copying feature, but no fax capability. Neither do I have
any fax software installed on my computer.
Whenever I reboot, I get the following message from 'Windows
Installer's' small window: "the feature you are trying to use is on a
CDRom or other removeable disk that is not available. Please insert
the 'fax disk' and click OK".
I keep clicking 'cancel' and closing the box, but it keeps coming up
again and again. Then another small window opens: "Error 1706--no valid
source can be found for product fax. The Windows Installer cannot
continue". Then it tells me to look for file: fax.msi--I do a search
and there is no such file on my computer.
This is very annoying--the windows keep repeating and repeating until 4-
5 minutes have passed, and then they suddenly disappear until the next
reboot.
How can I keep these Windows Installer messages from coming up at all?
