New DVD Rom
I have a Dimension 4550 and want to add a DVD Rom or possibly replace the CD Rom with a CD/DVD Rom. Are there any specifications that I need to look out for to ensure that my new DVD Rom is compatible with my Dimension 4550, or will virtually ANY DVD Rom work with the computer I have?

Hi Budgiebird,
Any standard IDE drive should work fine with your system.
Here is the Dell User Guide, which also has instructions on Adding & Removing parts:

Be sure to set the jumper on the back of the drive to Cable Select, not Master or Slave.
