all dell computers come with operating system disk

warranty should not be affected by formatting hard drive. to run a dual boot - install win 98 first , win xp second. during the install of win98, make 2 partitions.. also, wil have to run fat 32, win 98 cannot run on nfts file system.

Recently, a lot of machines are coming without install disks.

Though, they have a utilitiy to make an OS disk.

How to create an Operating System CD
Drivers - Just download them and put them on a CD before Reformating

Well, look at the big picture, a few cents cost saving per machine leads to big savings because Dell sells so many of them.

Also, Microsoft is cracking down on OEM OS cds....

The Dell computers that don't come with the OS CD provide a utility to make one.

As I said, Microsoft is cracking down on OEM CDs, so even if you buy a computer from somewhere else, there is the likelihood that you will not receive an OS CD.
