PHILIPS DVD+-RW DVD8701 Driver???
Where can I download a driver for my PHILIPS DVD+-RW DVD8701???
I loaded a different version a Windows XP than came with my system and am starting all over driverwise. Right now XP seems to recognize my drive as a dvd player, but not a dvd writer. I can't burn anything. Help me out.
I've searched on Dell and Philips respective websites but can't find anything.

miguk,
After installing Windows XP, did you install the Intel Chipset Drivers next?
These can be found through the Drivers & Downloads link under the PRoduct Support Tab above.
Best Regards

Popeyesk, I did you ever resolve your problem? I am having problems with the same Philips 8701 drive. I have uninstalled all the Sonic programs (and cleaned them from the registry), and am trying to just use Windows Media Player 10 to burn a CD in that drive, but it doesn't recognize any CD or DVD burner. I am able to play a CD from both my DVD ROM drive (D) and this Philips 8701 DVD+/-RW drive (E) as well as play DVDs from both drives. I have played with the IMAPI services settings, but they don't seem to change the behavior of WMP. I do notice than when I Disable IMAPI then at least WMP says, "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it." I have removed the Lower and UpperFilters in the registry. Here's the registry entries for:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
Not sure whey there are 6 sub-entries in this folder (0000-0005) in addition to Properties folder when I only have two DVD drives. It concerns me that everything seems to be identified as a "CD-ROM Drive".

Yes, I had removed DLA. I've also tried uninstalling the DVD+/ RW drive in Device Manager then rebooting. That didn't seem to do it. I've since re-installed just Sonic RecordNow (without DLA), but no change. Any ideas?
I'll try re-removing Sonic and the drive at the same time then rebooting. Maybe I should try Nero.
Thanks!
