Permanent error message: "No S-Video input signal"

A couple of weeks ago I played a DVD that produced changes in my system, an XPS-410 running Windows Media. Now, as soon as I turn on the computer a 2 x 4 inch window pops up in the upper right-hand corner and I cannot get rid of it. I tried diagnostics, BIOS changes, screen display options. It is thereeeee!

I spent an hour with the tech chat without any result, except shutting down the computer. Does anyone have a cure?

Thanks,

Albigor

The DVD prompted a series of installation questions by Media Player. I tried to get out without any changes, but might not have succeeded. - The DVD was produced in Europe and might have had some special features; that's all I know. - The message window is 2 inches high and 4 inches long, solid blue with the message in the middle.

u have system restore enabled... u could try going back to a point before u played the dvd.  or u could browse the DVD and see what it may have installed , then try to delete it

Toronto699,
No disrespect but mercy, this is a technical forum, not a kids chatroom.
The least one can do for the OP is to take the time and spell out the simple words, they deserve that much. Really, if one is going to follow advice given on the forum they are more incline to trust the ones that follow some form of proper grammar, u, ur, b4 doesn`t cut it.

Albigor,
Microsoft`s link on the System Restore
306084
You can go to Control Panel | Add and Remove Programs | check for any new installation or program you are not familiar with. Remove|Uninstall, never delete if at all possible.
Have you tried updating or re-installing WMP?

Sincerely,
Fox

Toronto699,

Your "sound" advice at the moment is not the point. I am trying desperately not to pick on you but trying to remind you this is not a kid's ICQ room. One does not have to be an English Teacher to have some pride in the proper use of the English language on a technical forum. Candidly, you should be ashamed, if you have no respect or pride for yourself fine but at least show some to the person requesting help and the other people that might read the thread. We are dealing with adults, advice given in complete sentence, the simple words like "you", "your" spelled out, frankly adds more creditability to that "sound" advice.
You will find that the majority of people will trust advice when given with the use of proper grammar; truthfully who would you rather trust, an adult or some first grader that cannot spell the word You?
Your heart is in it, otherwise you would not be wanting to help others, all you need now is two or three extra o`s & u`s here and there ;)

Sincerely,
Fox

Hey Fox:

As I stated up fron, I spent an hour with the tech chat to no avail. The obvious actions, such as Restore, were taken.
I guess Restore is for Windows registers but my problem, the warning window, shows up before Windows is started.

Ps: As good speller the tech chatter was, he could not help.

Hello Albigor,

Yes, I read you spent an hour with the Tech Chatter but my crystal ball was a little rusty, so what may be obvious actions to one, may not to another ;)

Within that hour, did the Tech have you download and run HJT program, post a HJT log and verify your system is clean of any malware (spyware)?

If not, you should think about jumping over to Dell`s Hijack This board, see the "How to" at the top of the page and post a log for the experts to review.
