Problem with TSSTcorp CDRW/DVD TSL462C
Just got my new Inspiron D510. There seems to be a problem with the CDRW/DVD drive. Whenever I "enable" it, my whole system slows down. Just opening "My Computer" takes two seconds to display the devices.
When I "disable" the CDRW/DVD drive, everything is much faster. "My Computer" pops open in a fraction of a second.
The drive seems to be working OK. I've read CD-ROMs and I've viewed DVD movies. Haven't tried writing a CDR yet.
Has anyone else seen this problem?
Do I have a bum drive or is the nature of the beast?
Regards,
Bob

I called Dell Tech Support about this problem and after 30 minutes on the phone with two different people (one of whom was in India I'm sure), they agreed my CDRW/DVD was bad. Dell shipped a replacement overnight and it solved the problem.
Hopefully my marginally bad CDRW/DVD was one of a kind and not a general problem with the TSSTcorp CDRW/DVD TSL462C.
