Raptor Drive/SATA Card Upgrade for a Dimension 8100?

I have a Dimension 8100, 512 MB RAM, 60 G Hard Disk, 1.3 G Processor which I use for mainstream applications.  Would installing a Raptor Drive and SATA Card as the Master drive significantly speed up the system?

Thank you.

GSWPitt.

Your best bet would be to go to http://www.powerleap.com/PL-P4N.html and get the 423 to 478 pin adapter and get a 2.6Ghz 400Mhz processor in your system. You will be doubling your processor speed for $219. A 74GB Raptor will run you about $175 + the controller card about $25-$40 + a serial ATA cable about $5 which will roughly be the same price as the Powerleap. You will notice much more after the upgrade of your CPU, rather than with a Raptor.

See the following link from a contributor to the Dell forums for a review of the Powerleap upgrade: http://www.duhvoodooman.com/powrleap/P4N/P4N_1.htm

Hope this helps your decision!
