TSSTCorp TS-L632D driver or firmware

Hello,

I reinstalled WindowsXP and now my dvd writer/cd writer only works very basically. The driver now shows it is made by Microsoft as it will have just installed the Windows XP driver.

I have searched everywhere for this driver but it's not available.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,

LIPPER

The Microsoft driver installed by Windows XP is the correct driver.
All optical drives use the same one.  When you installed the operating
system, did you install the Chipset?  Did you install the burning software?
Please expand upon "now my dvd writer/cd writer only works very basically."

Is there going to be new firmwire released for this DVD/CD burner?  This drive has a difficult time reading DVD-R's on my Inspiron E1705.  The DVD-R reads just fine in other drives.  I have DMA enabled in XP.  Don't know what else to do.  Should I ask for a replacement or hold on for new firmwire?

Thanks,
Ryan

OK, perhaps it's the firmware.
I am using Nero for burning software. I did a test with nero and it was only able to write at something like 14x. However, the reason why I checked into this is because when I burned a cd the other day, Nero reported it could not burn at 48x for some reason but I have never had a problem with this media on my other burners.

Thanks in advance,

LIP

The maximum write speed of the TSST TS-L632D for CDR media is 24X. Make sure the
drive is in DMA mode and not PIO mode.

Start | Control Panel | System in classic view | Hardware tab | Device Manager

Click on the (+) next to IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.  Right-click the channel
the DVD drive is on and select Properties.  Click the Advanced Settings tab.

This does appeart to be a weak drive.  I have dvd-r's that work fine in every other player I own including my old I8100.  My new 1710 won't play any of my burnt disks and has trouble playing store bought dvds also.  The drive has the latest firmware Deo4  and I am hoping for an upgrade.  Also my last post about this issue has been deleted, I guess I touched on a sore subject with someone on here.

i have the same drive with an inspiron 6400 and had some of the same problems with different kinds of media like sony or maxell dvds, this can only be fixed with a firmware upgrade but dell doesn't provide one for now.

I just received my Inspiron E1505 with the 632D drive in it.  I have burned eight disks since I got my laptop last evening.  I have a Benq DW1640 in my desktop so I can monitor the quality of the burns...and thus far...I have used mainly Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim DVD+ and -R disks rated at 16X.  So far, the worse quality burn is with Verbatim MCC004...and that is a 96% burn.  I can't complain.  Make sure you defrag your hard disk at least daily...maybe that will help...

I just installed xp pro on my inspiron 1501.  I cannot get the dvd/cd drive to work correctly.  Any time I try playing music or rippin files from a cd the whole computer becomes unresponsive.  Does anyone know what I can do to fix this?
