Transfer VHS tape to DVD

I am computer ignorant and everything is difficult. Can someone tell me how I can transfer my old VHS tapes onto DVD discs?

Get a stand-alone DVD recorder, connect to your VCR and just copy your home videos to a blank DVD disk. After you have a DVD copy, "Import" the video on to your computer harddrive, and edit it to burn back to disk using a Video Program (e.g. Pinnacle, Windows Movie Maker).

DVD recorders range in price $150-500.
Much easier and less time consuming IMO

Buy a capture box. I have a ADS Tech DVD Express capture unit that I bought from Sam's Club for $60. It plugs into the USB port on computer and into the audio/video ports on the VCR. Very easy to use. I had no problems and I'm dumb.
