Trying to locate a Driver/Utility CD that has blast.exe
I am looking for a "Device drivers & Diagnostics & utilities" CD that comes with the program blast.exe. If you have one of those CDs, I would like to get an ISO image file of it. It has been noted that the blast.exe program will recreate the hidden Diagnostic partition that comes with your new Dell notebook and copy the needed files into it. To find out if it has this program, follow these directions:
Boot from the "Device drivers & Diagnostics & utilities" CD. To boot from a CD, start your computer up and when you see the Dell BIOS splash screen, tap the F12 key. You should see up in the upper right hand part of the screen "Preparing to boot from another device" or something like that. Note: you may not see this on some notebooks. Then a menu should come up giving you the option of booting from different devices. At this point, put the Device drivers disk in and then select boot from the CD/DVD on the menu.
The diagnostic program will start automatically. When you are allowed to, cancel out of the program. Then switch to the A:\ drive (booting from the CD emulates your A:\ drive). To do this, type in "A:\" without the quotes. You should now see a prompt on the screen that looks like A:\>. At this prompt, type in "dir" without the quotes. In that list of files, do you see blast.exe?
If you do not see it, at the A:\> prompt, type in "blast" without the quotes. If it is not there, then it will say not file found or bad command. If it is there, it will give you a warning message asking if you really want to perform the operation. Just say no and the program will exit.
If your drivers/utility disk has this file, I would like to get an image ISO file of that disk.
I want to thank anyone who takes the time to find out if their CD has this file.
