What is a DVD 9?
Sure hope someone can help me. I just got my XPS and tried to copy a DVD, it wouldn't let me. It said to put a blank DVD9 in the drive. Also I couldn't get the blank dvd I had in it out. I had to turn my computer off and back on before I could eject it. Does anyone know what my problem is? I copied a music cd and had no problems.

to burn may be greater than 4.3Gb or there is a setting that needs to be
changed in the software.
For a disc that will not eject ...............

How do I find out if it is the setting or software? I am kind of new to all of that.

Music CDs are easy to copy. Some music companies are adding copy protection to CDs to try to get people to buy CDs instead of copying them.
Any movie DVD has copy protection and can't be legally copied, so you may be getting a message from your software that it can't be copied.
VCR tapes also have copy protection called Macrovision.
Its pretty rare to get a double layer disc that isn't copy protected unless its an educational CD or put out by a small company for a small market that can't afford the expensive copy protection. In which case you can split up a dual sided CD onto 2 single layer discs (4.7GB) or compress it using any DVD authoring program such as Nero or Roxio which will lose resolution but allow you to squeeze it on a single layer..
