Will Windows XP work on a Dimension XPS T600 Pentium III

Does anyone know or have they loaded Windows XP on this system?

Go to your support home page and run the upgrade advisor and you'll know if you can upgrade. From your support home page, go to Upgrades, Upgrade your operating system, Submit, and they will have detailed instructions on how to do an evaluation.

You should be fine... I just upgraded an XPS T500 to Windows XP.  Runs well, but I have upgraded the CPU to 1.0 ghz and have 512 MB memory, which probably helps a lot.  You also might want to load the latest BIOS (A11) if you haven't already.

There is lots of information on this forum about upgrades to the XPS T series.  Particularly search in the old "Upgrades (pre 6/9/2003)" section.  Lots of detail also available at www.roberthancock.com

In short, you can do a direct swap of your CPU with a 1.0 ghz CPU, but the right part is probably very hard to find now.  Another easy upgrade path is to buy the Powerleap kit where you can go to a 1.4 ghz Celeron. Check out www.powerleap.com    Some might question putting any money into this old of a computer, but I'm getting lots of productive extra years out of my T500 with just the memory and CPU upgrade.
