Windows 7 not recognizing - MATSHITA DVD+-RW UJ8A2 - on latitude e4310

Did not help, because driver is OK.

i found out, that this problem occurs after wake-up from standby mode. When I restart windows, DVD drive is recognized and works (the newest driver is installed). After putting computer to sleep mode and wake-up, optical drive is not recognized.

no, I don't see the device at all. Even other hardware detection SW such as hwinfo does not see it. It behaves like being disconnected.

Sounds like a flaky drive or connection. Try following these instructions <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed / replaced from this post by Dell>to remove and reinstall the physical drive.

No, I tried it in Linux and after wake-up from sleep mode, DVD drive is visible for system.

So it is software problem, connected with power management i think.

What I would do is go to the link below for the upper and lower filter trick after the system awakens and the drive disappears. Follow the manual procedure so you can check the registry entries. If you see them, delete them as directed.

Upper/lower filter "trick" is not available for windows 7 because there are not those two key in registry.

As you can see here support.microsoft.com/.../314060 MS only recommends to use "device troubleshooter", but actually it does not help.

As I have mentioned, there are no Upper/Lower filter values in key {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

So there is nothing to delete.

Here is the manual procedure:

Windows 7 or Windows Vista

1. Click Start
   
   , and then click All Programs.
2. Click Accessories, and then click Run.
3. Type regedit, and then click OK. 
   
   If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
4. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
5. In the right pane, click UpperFilters. 
   
   Note You may also see an UpperFilters.bak registry entry. You do not have to remove that entry. Click UpperFilters only. If you do not see the UpperFilters registry entry, you still might have to remove the LowerFilters registry entry. To do this, go to step 8.
6. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
7. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
8. In the right pane, click LowerFilters.
   
   Note If you do not see the LowerFilters registry entry, unfortunately this content cannot help you any further. Go to the"Next Steps" section for information about how you can find more solutions or more help on the Microsoft Web site.
9. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
10. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
11. Exit Registry Editor.
12. Restart the computer.

The only other suggestion I can make is to restore the original drive image using Dell Datasafe and see if that allows the drive to be used upon wake-up.
