dimension e520 // tsst dvdrw ts-h653a. not listed in 'computer'
My dvdr is listed in device manager, but with a driver error (code 39-corrupt or missing)
it is not listed in 'computer' and therefore wont read any cds/dvds let aone write them. I have downloaded and tried to install the driver/firmware update from dell, but get a 'drive not find' error when i run the flash application....
any ideas??!

Hi Bsodwardski,
The Code 39 error is usually related to the Upper & Lower Filters. Please click on the CD/RW link in my post and scroll to Section 100, article 31 for Microsoft`s article on the steps to correct the problem.

Hi Bsod,
Interesting question, Windows 2000 and XP both dealt with this as well. I was hoping Vista would not, but alas no, here is a Vista article on the Filters.
