hd tach 2.70 and my benchmarks

just downloaded hd tach 2.70

http://www.simplisoftware.com

here are my results-

random access time-12.1 ms

read burst speed-109.6 mg/s

at the bottom of the test results -it reads-

read speed-maximum 85.5 mb/s, minimum 31.4 mb/s, average 50.8mb/s

the test was done on a phsical drive -80gb accordingly to hd tach at the top of the test run-

but the test was actually done on 2-40gb maxtors set up as serial raid 0-

so it looks like my test results are better than a 80gb drive, due to my raid setup

am i correct?

Yes, but only on the max read speed.  You should try to run a real world data transfer from one partition to another partition (same HD).  Use a size between 1 and 1.5GB to negate the effect of the HD's built-in cache.  You should expect to see a read/write speed around 14 MB/sec.
