help with my hard drive i think!

Question

for the past 6 months my computer has started playing up... the hard drive becomes very hot...then makes this very lous clicking noise.. followed by a blu screen appearing...can anyone help / =S

If the drive isn't recognized by the system or won't boot (no drive found, OS not found), the drive has failed. A few months of running hot will kill any hard drive very quickly.

Yourself, very, very slim - if the system doesn't see a drive, there's not much you can do. Most times, the data can be recovered by a pro though - if you're willing to pay the price for it.

So, my Inspiron 6000 hard drive has also failed ('internal hard disk drive not found, Internal HDD HARD error!' when booting up). What are the chances of recovering any of the data on the drive?   Thanks!   N.

From my recent experience (just finished chatting with Dell, now waiting for a replacement drive) I'd say back up your data a couple of times and get ready to replace your hard drive.   Then, back up your data one more time...   :O)

Replacing the hard drive costs less than $100 - as little as half that.

okay then... so i back up my data and then phone dell ? does it matter that i have had my laptop for more than a year..?
