how to switch programs from C drive to D drive
We've got a new dimension 8300 with Win XP and 2 hard drives. I use photo programs and am trying out Gif things with HTML and use card programs. My husband says that the photo programs and games should be on the "D" drive but we don't know how to get them there. I'm also going to try and redesign my kitchen and he says I use too many graphic programs. We are newbies to computers and have minimal experience. How do we use the second hard drive?

Really, you can use the D drive for whatever you want. But my suggestion would be to use it for all of your personal files, My Documents, etc. Use it to backup your e-mail and address book, Quicken files, etc.

There are third party utilities available that will transfer programs between hard drives and the drive's partition. Programs like Partition Magic includes a utility for doing just that. Otherwise like Osprey stated you will have to uninstall and reinstall each program you wish to move since Windows associates that program with it's install hard drive letter designation.

Osprey, if you don't mind, can you be more specific as to how that's done, as in how to transfer from c to d or vice versa?
