need proper ahci driver (pre install driver?) for xp
Hello,
Im reinstalling a XP work station.
It has XP with AHCI
I have a optiplex 755 with XP
Im hitting F6 to load the AHCI Driver.
The driver Im using i download from dell drivers.
for the optiplex it is here.
there is a "matrix storage manager" and "matrix storage manager pre install"
If the first one and it gives 4 options to pick from
-ICH9 sata ahci controller desktop
-82801hem sata raid mobile
-82801hem/hbm sata ahci mobile
-IcH8 sata Raid
I tried option ICH9, but i get to the end of the install
Its asking for files such as mtxoci.dl_ which it says are not on the CD
i believe this is a common error with communication problems.
I tried again with the 2nd option (preinstall intel driver) for the ICH9 but am getting the same error
It keeps asking for the same missing file.
any ideas
It would really help as i have hundreads of these machiens im responbile for.

What service pack level is the XP cd you are using for reinstall?
Here is the F6 driver, download it and extract the contents using winzip or similar software, after extraction, these are the files you need.

are you sure you have ich9 chip? maybe you have ich8
