problem seeing over 127 GB

Question

I just added a 200 GB internal hard drive to my Dimension 4400. I am running Windows XP service pak 2.  After install and format, it only reads 127 Gb available. I did some researcha nd just updated my BIOS to the .06. How do I get the rest rest of the space? Do I have to reformat it again? Sorry if these are obvious questions, I am just a novice. I did not change the jumpers on the master drive.   Thanks in  advance!

Does your XP disc include SP2? If not, you have two choices. Just partition the unused space (should be available in disk management), or create a slipstreamed SP2 installation disc and reinstall.

Enable large drive support (see below), open the disc administrator and create a second partition.

If you want a single, large partition, the install CD must be slipstreamed to include SP1 minimum. If you use a pre-SP1 CD to install, the 137G limit applies.

i went to disk management and i am tryinf to format the unused space as a seperate partition. I tried thia about an hour ago and when finished is stated the the format was unsuccesfull. I am tring again as i type. I will advise. Thanks much!

after waiting it says that drive I can not be formatted. I have no idea what is going on. IF I look under disk managemnet it shoes the remaining unavailable space, but I can't use it.

I am looking under disk management and I see my G drive with 128 GB of space and to the right of it I see 58.xx GB of unallocated space. I have tried several times to partition it and format it. Every time after the format is finished it states that it was unsuccessful.
