single drive vs. dual drives

Question

I noticed that Dell offers systems with single drive and dual drives that do both CD R/W and DVD R/W. If you can do the same thing with a single drive or dual drives, what's the advantage or purpose of having dual drives? Why not get a single drive that can do both CD R/W and DVD R/W?   thanks David

Hi David,Many people like the two drive set up for disc to disc copy. However most tend to go with a standard DVD-ROM, then a DVD/RW. Use the DVD-ROM as the work horse, games, software, music, etc..leave the DVD/RW strictly for burning.But in the end my friend, totally up to the person purchasing the system.Best Regards! The disc to disc copy makes sense. I don't really plan on doing that, and if I ever did want to do that I should be able to 'download' the original disc to my HD, then copy from that onto another disc, right? Is there any disadvantage to having dual drives?   Thanks, David

if you want to make multiple copys u can use 2 dvd burns at the same time double the process speed.. its worked for me also dvd burners are not that expesive these days

either way works... dual drives doesn't use hdd space coping dvds except a set buffer, and makes the process quicker

1 drive should be ok

i only got a 2nd dvd burner for dual layer and dvd-rw support which the nec doesn't do and came in my dell
