BSOD and SupportAssist

Not sure why the BSOD started a few days ago, but narrowed it to SupportAssist. Win10 updated a couple of days ago (10+ hours) and I wanted to be sure that I was up to date of drivers, etc. SA said that there was a new version ... stalled and wouldn't update. Tried to uninstall - BSOD with a pagefault error. Tried 3 times always ending in BSOD. Then used the Microsoft program for fixing programs that won't install/uninstall. Selected SupportAssist, and ended in a BSOD. Went to Programs & Features and noted that SA was now uninstalled .... NO more BSOD.

Prior to the Win10 update I ran ckdsk, scan, RAM ck, and all were OK. So I assume that SA ran in the background and caused the BSOD. Now that SA is uninstalled I have not had another BSOD. SA has worked flawlessly for the past 2.5 years.
