DSA Validating Update - Never Completes
XPS15 7590. I start Dell Support Assistant. It says I have 2 updates. I go to the updates description. Select the 1 urgent only update. Click on Install. It says 'validating' and starts spinning. It never comes back after hours. So I close it. Reboot. Try again same thing happens. It never gets past validating and spinning and never starts the download.

I have the same laptop. I have found that Malwarebytes interferes with SupportAssist. Have you tried disabling your computer protection software before launching SupportAssist, or "whitelisting" the SupportAssist program folders in your protection software?
It worked for me.
I hope this helps. Have a great day.

Thanks for the info. I have McAfee at the moment. It finally worked. Previously also the downloads were really slow eventhough a manual download of drivers was fast. So not sure if their service has issues. Also noticed that if you install the updates outside the DSA it doesn't know they are installed so the install fails. Kind of silly it doesn't check the installed version and remove update. Seems kind of kludgy. In the future I will try that when it happes again. I had tried disabling my VPN but that had no affect.

I concur with you that SA is a "work in progress". For instance, you can't even "hide" updates for programs like Dell Digital Delivery that you have uninstalled from the computer.
There have been a lot of bugs reported over the years, but for certain it is a useful utility. I am guessing that when Dell gets SA working, a new Windows 10 version/update comes along and "breaks" things, so it is a constant game of catch up.
Have a great weekend and I was glad to hear you resolved your issue.
