Hide/Remove SA Driver Updates

Hi, I have the same issue as garioch7. You have not posted a solution. Can you let me know how to hide/delete the Dell/Alienware Digital Delivery Application driver update? Thanks

The only way an update can be Hidden or removed from SupportAssist is to contact Technical support, provide them your service Tag and Driver ID of the application which you wanna block. The can do it from the backend.  

However this can be added as a feature in Future builds.

@garioch7  Windows show / Hide update troubleshooter package was taken down by Microsoft. its only available from third party sites. Also I don't think its fair comparison, windows 10 updates do not seek your consent prior installing. SupportAssist doesn't install a Driver or application without your consent. You have an option or choose which one to install and which one to leave.

Dell employees:

I have the same issue as garioch7. I have no need for the Dell Digital Delivery application and uninstalled it from Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features in May 2020, but SupportAssist and Dell Update keep trying to push this update out to my Inspiron 5584 every time I check for updates.  As garioch7 suggested, it would be nice if we had the option to hide unwanted updates recommended by SupportAssist and/or Dell Update from the user interface ourselves, especially if they are categorized as Optional updates.

Just an FYI that the wushowhide.diagcab file was re-posted on the Microsoft servers at http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/2/2/F22D5FDB-59CD-4275-8C95-1BE17BF70B21/wushowhide.diagcab in June 2021 after it was re-signed with a SHA-2 digital certificate. Bottom Line : They could provide an option to hide the update from control itself, Like windows 7 or 8 had. 

With windows 10 they simply want you to install the updates, they will install it with or without consent. Than why would they provide a troubleshooter to hide them, 

Yes it's publicly available with Limited access and anyways there are tons of third party tool which let you do that. My point was not to compare windows 10 update delivery mechanism with Dell's

I'm not sure why you're having problems downloading the SHA-2 signed wushowhide.diagcab from http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/2/2/F22D5FDB-59CD-4275-8C95-1BE17BF70B21/wushowhide.diagcab. The file downloaded correctly to my machine (Win 10 v21H1 / both Firefox v91 and MS Edge v93 tested) when I tried that link this morning.

My first image above shows that http: link actually downloaded wushowhide from Microsoft's secure https: server.  Are you using a browser extension that blocks all http: URLs or automatically tries to convert http: to https: in the URL?

I assume someone with an older OS that does not support SHA-2 code signing (i.e., Win XP, Vista or Win 7 SP1 that does not have KB4474419 installed) would have to use the older SHA-1 signed version of wushowhide that is still available <here> on the OlderGeeks site.  When I checked <here> on the MajorGeeks site today it offered the new SHA-2 signed version for Win 7/8/10 that Microsoft re-published on their own servers in June 2021.

I agree. Windows Update use to have a simple mechanism to hide / unhide buggy or unwanted updates (e.g., the optional Microsoft Sillverlight browser plugin for IE) as described in the Win 7/8 tutorial <here> and it would be nice if Dell could add a similar feature to SupportAssist and Dell Update.
