How Long Should SupportAssist BIOS Update take?
I've got a Precision 5820, and attempting to install 1.11.1 ... it's been about an hour
so far, with the "Installing" dots flashing.
While SupportAssist classified this upgrade as "Urgent", the Driver Details include:
> This package contains the BIOS update for Dell Precision 5820 Tower and Precision
> 5820 Tower X-Series systems that run Windows 10 operating system.
I'm running Windows 7 Pro.

@ZedZed42I have upgraded BIOS with SupportAssist (this happened inadvertently, in my case, lol). It took a few minutes, I saw the success message, etc. Then the system attempted to reboot (but... it would probably be better not to describe what happened instead)…

@jostar1
I've used the support a few times. Sometimes they are good, at other times they are not.

There is a June BIOS update for my XPS 15. I have tried multiple times to install it with Dell Update. The installation was never successful. I went to Support Assist and tried it. I had those flashing dots saying "Installing" for 5 hours. They finally stopped and I got a message that drivers had been installed and to re-boot my computer. I did that. I just checked with Dell Update and it shows that the BIOS update is available so apparently it wasn't installed. I don't know how to get it.
I have only had this computer for a month. When I got it, it said that there was an April BIOS update available. I wasn't able to install that one either.
This is my first Dell computer so I am not familiar with the support I can get from Dell. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you really want to know if the BIOS installed, in the Start Menu search field, type in System Information. Click on that and you will see a screen that displays information about your system, including the latest BIOS installed.
