Inspiron 15 5582 2-in-1, SupportAssist problems
I have an Inspiron 15 5582 2-in-1, running Microsoft Windows 10 Home. I have two problems with Support Assist.
1) SupportAssist has never run properly on my main login on my laptop. It shows the blue rectangle, and spends some time, apparently looking around. Then it exits. In Event Viewer, we can see, for example,
Error 9/6/2020 11:21:10 AM Application Error 1000 (100)

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling.
The only thing I know of that might be unusual about my setup is this. In the initial setup, microsoft chose to truncate my email address (jeboyce56) to 5 characters to put my files under c:\Users\jeboy. This is not an acceptable shortening of my name. (jeb, jboyce, and jeboyce are all acceptable; I find jeboy to be offensive.)
So I found directions for getting an acceptable name for my folder. I created a local account, and then did registry stuff to associate it with my microsoft account. My files are now under C:\Users\jeb.
2) I can run SupportAssist as a different user, admin, with a local account. It asked me to complete my profile, which I did. It seems mostly to work. However, it shows my support contract as running out real soon now, rather that as extended for 2 more years.

@jeboyce56
I think you have identified your problem: your "modified" user profile name, which is probably "confusing" Windows, and if Windows is confused, everything can go haywire. There are lots of reports on the web about the file Windows.UI.Xaml.dll causing issues.
Perhaps your new "modified" user account name is also confusing SupportAssist about your expiry date; or, that could be just another SupportAssist bug and there have been plenty of those reported in this topic.
I suspect, unfortunately, that you might possibly be the author of your own misfortune, by fiddling with the Windows-assigned default user account profile name. My account name got truncated to "gario", which does not please me, but I was to cautious to even bother trying to change it. Too much can go wrong when you start messing with Windows fundamentals. I am not sure that you could even undo what you have done, successfully, short of a Windows Repair or Clean Install.
Good luck. Have a great day.
Regards,
-Phil
