SA BIOS update fails Win 10

I have a Dell 13 xps, Win 10x64 Pro v.1903, BIOS v. 1.9.0 (8/31/2018).

I received a Dell Update Alert, that included 3 Critical Updates (BIOS 1.10.1, Intel Thunderbolt controller driver, SupportAssist OS Recovery Tools). I tried to install but got a failure error using both DellUpdate and Dell Support Assist. I tried installing the new BIOS as a standalone with no success.

My system is working well, except for updating these Dell programs. I never was a big fan of BIOS updates in the absence of an identified problem. Any advice? (I'm tempted to uninstall these Dell Update and SupportAssist programs).

Solved it.

But not by using either SupportAssist or Dell Update. Even after uninstalling/re-installing SupportAssist it continued to fail.

The solution was to download direct the latest BIOS from Dell/Support/Drivers. Dell Update now says I am up to date (though I have no idea where those other critical updates went).

I have to comment that over 2 decades I have not been impressed with any Dell Diagnostic or automatic corrective programs that went by many names. I consign SupportAssist to the dustbin.
