Actually, I have the same problem. I have an Inspiron 15 (5000 series) and I had to uninstall supportassist, as, for some reason, with most inspirons it says the fan is broken and proceeds to make an ear shattering noise, usually in the middle of the night. You'll have to completely delete supportassist using Control Panel to stop this. I've tried deleting only the update, but it still happened. ALL OF IT MUST GO OR THIS WILL NOT WORK.
1. Go to Control Panel (App)
2. Press "Uninstall A Program"
3. Uninstall the three SupportAssist programs (It will take some time for each one).
I've been trying to find the solution to this problem for quite some time now and I have even uninstalled the SA programs from my control panel app. Just a few minutes ago it had happened and probably alerted everyone surrounding me in my flat. I think I've even searched SA in my PC and deleted the folder which came up.

My final solution was to replace the fan.
