SA Update Plugin causing hardware noise
Immediately after trying to install the most recent version of "Dell Update SupportAssist Update Plugin", which was recommended by SupportAssist, my computer started to make a lot of noise. It seems to be an issue with the hard drive or the fan. This has never happened before. It seemed to have happened during the verification phase (before installing). It does not help to restart the PC or try to reinstall the failed software. The noise is extremely loud. The noise is a direct consequence of trying to install the software recommended by SupportAssist.

Actually, I have the same problem. I have an Inspiron 15 (5000 series) and I had to uninstall supportassist, as, for some reason, with most inspirons it says the fan is broken and proceeds to make an ear shattering noise, usually in the middle of the night. You'll have to completely delete supportassist using Control Panel to stop this. I've tried deleting only the update, but it still happened. ALL OF IT MUST GO OR THIS WILL NOT WORK.
1. Go to Control Panel (App)
2. Press "Uninstall A Program"
3. Uninstall the three SupportAssist programs (It will take some time for each one).
Hope this helps!

Hi,
I've been trying to find the solution to this problem for quite some time now and I have even uninstalled the SA programs from my control panel app. Just a few minutes ago it had happened and probably alerted everyone surrounding me in my flat. I think I've even searched SA in my PC and deleted the folder which came up.

My final solution was to replace the fan.
