I stepped back to Windows 1809 keeping SA and DELL update. This doesn't change my PC config except OS version. This was the only change when I tried to move to Windows 1903.
Also, I have a version of DELL update outside of SA. If you install only DELL update and not SA, do you also have BSOD ?
Remove the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver (Version 15.44) Install the latest version of this driver available for your system to resolve the issue: Go to the Dell Support Site Enter the service tag or express service code to get drivers specific to how the system shipped Alternatively, you can choose your system type from the product list to get a general list of drivers for that system Click on the Drivers and Downloads drawer in the menu Ensure you have the correct operating system set Select the Serial ATA drop-down category Look for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver, ensure the version shown is newer than version 15.44 Click on the Download button and follow the onscreen instructions Restart your system and install the latest version of SupportAssist
this is alll very well and good, however the version that is currently installed IS the latest version of the driver available for my system. so am i supposed to un-install it and then re-install the exact same version?
In addition to: https://www.dell.com/support/article/uk/en/ukbsdt1/sln317867/windows-10-resolving-a-bad-pool-caller-bsod-against-the-irst-driver?lang=en For customers experiencing BSOD on Windows 1903 and have the latest drivers listed on the Dell Web-site or SupportAssist. I could recommend the following driver off the intel site, version 17.2.0.1009. Its been tested internally on OS 1903 and no BSOD has been reported on the test systems where it was replicated. https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/55005/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST- It was recommend when having BSOD to: a) Run SupportAssist v3.2 or higher version to update drivers b) Run Dell Update (consumer platforms) or Dell Command | Update (commercial platforms) (v3.3 will match any DU or DCU so no need to run multiple apps) c) Check Dell Support Site d) Windows Update e) Update storage drivers by automatically web searching in Device Manager This community forum is for general questions and difficult to gather info. If the above checks or installing the driver from the intel site do not resolve the issue, I would call tech support to collect minidump files and system information are "must have" to figure out the culprit.

Are there any updates? I'm posting details since the last reply was in July.
I have an XPS13 9380. I had to re-install windows 10 due to a corrupted driver when I first got my computer. Everything was working fine until I installed Dell SupportAssist. The BSOD with the error Bad_Pool_Caller appeared. I attempted to uninstalled the stupid thing but the BSOD continuously appeared. When it was finally uninstalled Dell SupportAssist I thought all was well based on the forum but my computer crashed 1 minute into restarting. I'm a bit of a computer noob so I didn't know how to run diagnostics and couldn't really do much since every time my computer started it would crash, so I just did a system restore. Not sure if the system is actually fixed since I did this a few hours ago, but at least it didn't crash 1 minute into starting!
I was experiencing the same BSOD with the error Bad_Pool_Caller after re-install the W10 1903 on my Alienware 17-R5 and use Dell SupportAssist to update the drivers. I have uninstalled the Dell SupportAssist and it's workink fine.
I confirm, this issue still exists. I just made a clean install on Dell XPS 13 (9380), one i install Support Assist it comes to BSOD in less than a minute. I even can not uninstall it in a normal mode, the Windows not survive the first minute after boot up. Not installing SupportAssist results in a stable fast system. I realized less fan activity since the clean install, Dell softwares are really bloat and low quality.
and users of 14 15 16 are advised to update to the current version.
Both Microsoft and Intel have found an incompatibility between the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (build 1903) and certain versions of the Intel RST driver.
The issue still persist. So many re-installs. Finally I got this error message that led me to here. After uninstalling the Dell software everything is back to stable.

Remove the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver (Version 15.44)
Install the latest version of this driver available for your system to resolve the issue:
Go to the Dell Support Site
Enter the service tag or express service code to get drivers specific to how the system shipped
Alternatively, you can choose your system type from the product list to get a general list of drivers for that system
Click on the Drivers and Downloads drawer in the menu
Ensure you have the correct operating system set
Select the Serial ATA drop-down category Look for the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver, ensure the version shown is newer than version 15.44
Click on the Download button and follow the onscreen instructions
Restart your system and install the latest version of SupportAssist
this is alll very well and good, however the version that is currently installed IS the latest version of the driver available for my system. so am i supposed to un-install it and then re-install the exact same version?

Version 15.xx.xx.xx of IRST is wayyy too old.
Current version is 17.5.2.1024 Date: 8/9/2019
and users of 14 15 16 are advised to update to the current version.
Both Microsoft and Intel have found an incompatibility between the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (build 1903) and certain versions of the Intel RST driver.
