SA just sits blank window..

So just last week, and into this week, SA is now on my system showing a blank window.

Prior, it would do it's thing, but these past 2 weeks it sits there blank and not doing anything.  Removal and Re-Installation provide the same 'effect' with no change.

I have tried finding a 'cache' or something that is stuck but alas I have come up empty.  Any way to get SA working again on my system?

This continues and now on several of our corporate PC's not just my own.  I've done what was required from tech in PM's by uninstalling, re-installing, etc and nothing works.  Anything I can try or do to fix this? Thanks!

Hi BergRD:

Could you provide more information about your own computer, such as the Dell product model, Windows OS (if Win 10 please include the version and build shown at Settings | System | About | Windows Specifications), and the versions of Dell SupportAssist (check at Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features) and Dell BIOS currently installed. Is this a home computer or was this a business/enterprise laptop or desktop provided by your employer? If this is not a home computer has your employer's IT department opened a formal support ticket with Dell Enterprise support?

What antivirus and firewall do you use on this computer, and is this the same security software used by other computers in your company that are experiencing the same problem? Does the problem persist if you temporarily disable your antivirus and/or firewall?  If so, note that some antivirus / anti-malware programs can interfere with SupportAssist, and garioch7 suggested that users add the following folders to the scan exclusions of their antivirus / anti-malware (see their post in the thread SupportAssist Will Not Scan Hardware) to eliminate possible conflicts.

  • C:\Program Files\Dell\SARemediation
  • C:\Program Files\Dell\SupportAssistAgent

Do you have the Dell Update app installed on your computer (it may be called Alienware Update, depending on the Dell product model you own), and if so does the interface load correctly and does a check for updates run to completion?

Dell employee DELL-Chris M pinned instructions titled SA Uninstall/Reinstall at the top of this SupportAssist for PCs board for a clean reinstall of SupportAssist for home computers.  Note that  when I perform a clean reinstall I normally use Revo Uninstaller Free in Advanced mode to remove all the SupportAssist-related programs listed in those instructions (e.g., Dell SupportAssist, Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Plugin for Dell Update, Dell SupportAssist Remediation, etc., if installed) and allow Revo Uninstaller to remove all stray registry entries and disk files left behind by the program's native uninstaller. Are these the instructions you followed, or did DELL-Cares simply suggest that you uninstall SupportAssist from Control Panel | Programs | Programs and Features and then reinstall using the latest SupportAssistInstaller.exe from the main SupportAssist for Home PCs page?
