Support Assist 3.9.1

I've installed and reinstalled version 3.9.1 multiple times. The only way that I can start SupportAssist is via the batch file method posted elsewhere in this section. It won't start via the Support Assist icon. But each time I start via the batch file, it eventually stops owing to an unexpected issue. And as I look at prior messages, I do not have a log file as described. Should I just give up on this software?

Hi kkester:

What is the model of your Dell computer and Windows operating system (if Win 10 please include your version and build - see TechSmith's How to Check Windows 10 Build and Version)?

Please note that my SupportAssist utility has auto-updated twice in the past few weeks (to v3.9.2.57 on 01-Jul-2021 and to v3.10.0.47 on 12-Jul-2021) so if your problem just started recently it's possible that your SupportAssist installation was corrupted during one of these auto-updates.

When you say you "installed and reinstalled version 3.9.1 multiple times", did you uninstall by the usual method from Control Panel | Programs | Programs and features?  If so, I'd suggest you try Dell employee DELL-Chris M's step-by-step instructions in SA Uninstall / Reinstall  and perform a complete re-install of Dell SupportAssist and all it's associated components (including Dell Support Assist OS Recovery Plugin for Dell Update and Dell SupportAssist Remediation if installed - see the image below from my Inspiron 5584).

DELL-Chris M's instructions in SA Uninstall / Reinstall have always worked for me, but I do recall having problems with another Dell utility, namely Dell Update, that required a deep wipe of this software using Revo Uninstaller Free in Aggressive mode to remove the last remnants of orphaned files and registry entries before it would reinstall properly.  If DELL-Chris M's instructions don't work post back and I can provide a few hints on using Revo Uninstaller.
