Hi HKP11:

These UsbUpdate.exe errors stopped on my Inspiron 5584 some time around 10-Jun-2022.

See employee DELL-Chris M's 13-Jun-2022 post in LittleMaui's Inspiron 3891, Event Viewer Error - Usbupdate.exe Fails about the bug fix Dell released in mid-June that states that "There will be no notification of any sort. The OTA (over the air) update is going to happen for all Dell remediation services (SupportAssist, Alienware Update, Dell Update)."

As far as I can tell the bug fix was pushed out silently when users launched SupportAssist (or whatever Dell update utility they normally use to check for updates for Dell software and drivers). The only way you will be able to tell if you received the fix is if you re-install SuppporAssist (which is not something I necessarily recommend - I currently have SupportAssist disabled on my Inspiron 5584) and then confirm that Windows Reliability Monitor and Event Viewer have stopped logging the USBIEUpdate / UsbUpdate.exe errors.

Hi HKP11:

You didn't mention your Windows operating system or Dell computer model but I occasionally use Dell Update v4.5.x to run manual update checks for Dell software and drivers and prefer that utility to the resource-heavy (and often buggy) SupportAssist v3.10.x.

I've also disabled the optional SupportAssist OS Recovery program (a.k.a. Dell SupportAssist Remediation) for similar reasons and now use Macrium Reflect Free for creating a bootable USB stick and full disk images just in case I ever have to perform an emergency recovery - see my 03-Apr-2022 post in r72019's SupportAssist PC-Doctor Module, 100% CPU and RAM Usage! for further details. Services for Dell Support Assist and Dell SupportAssist Remediation are both currently disabled on my Inspiron 5584 so neither program can start automatically at boot-up, and I imagine I'll be uninstalling both these programs (as well as the Dell SupportAssist OS Recovery Plugin for Dell Update, as outlined in the initial steps of DELL-Chris M's SA Uninstall / Reinstall) in the near future if Dell doesn't do something soon about their buggy behaviour.

HINT:

If you've already uninstalled SupportAssist note that you might notice that you're prompted to re-install SupportAssist every time you want to run a manual check for updates (i.e., when you click the blue "Check for Updates" button) from the support page for your computer model. If that happens go to https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us?app=products and enter your unique Service Tag. That should take you directly to the support page for your computer model, and if you select the "Drivers and Downloads" tab and expand the "Find Drivers" section it should only display updates that match your specific Service Tag / hardware configuration. From the support page for my Inspiron 5584 when I follow this procedure:
