Thanks for getting back to me, I have prepared the bootable USB but when it gets to picking the drive the message is 'We are unable to detect any disks that can be utilized for a cloud restore'. I presume this option is not available then for Vostro's 5402 or would there be an issue elsewhere (SATA/NVMe operation settings in BIOS)?
I have checked the SupportAssistOS documentation and apparently 'reset and update' feature is not available on Vostro's 5402. The previous version of those laptops (5401) does support this feature but for some reason it is not available for the laptop I use.
I presume that if this the case I will not be able to make use of Dell's OS recovery tool either? So if I were to re-install my windows I will need to make use of Microsoft's Media Creation Tool instead?
When you made the USB key, you made the Support Assist option. You need the manual option that can be Found under 'advanced' in the USB recovery tool. Once you are in advanced, search by service tag and select the non Support Assist option. Re-make the USB key that way. ^JKC

Just an update so the post can be closed. Turned out that SupportAssist OS is not supported on my laptop (certain Vostro machines have the software pre-installed but it's functionality is not available). If Windows needs restoring the easiest way to do that is to download Dell's OS-USB recovery too and pick a 'Clean Windows Download' option under the advanced menu. Then it's the case of following through all the prompt windows in order to get the Win OS installed.

Jacob_J,
You can create the OS media and see if it will install. Click here to download the Dell Windows 10 ISO
