SupportAssist Recovery not working as instructions for back up

Question

I have a corrupted OS and trying to follow instructions provide for backing up files from the boot menu using the F12 start up button. When I select the option for support assist OS recovery, it spins and then to the pre-boot system performance which has been run number times with no error. I am not presented any of the file back up options that match the instructions. At this point , I just want to try to get the files, not so much worried and getting the OS restored.

Inspiron 3670. I have a call scheduled Wednesday with support to help me reinstall the OS but I was supposed to have the back up done by then. The instructions she gave me and the instructions on line are not tracking to what they told me. When I select the the OS support assist to move to the back up options, it starts spinning and then goes to pre-boot diagnostics. then I can only choose not to do memory and it restarts again. I do not get the menu i was expected to get. I am away from the computer for a couple days so I'll just get the support person to figure it out.
