SupportAssist crashes after 15 seconds

Dell SupportAssist crashes ~ 15 sec after start, about one second after hilightening the button "Driver and Downloads". This is a new phenomenon, the program worked 7/2017. I suppose a problem with the last Windows 10 64- bit- Update. I use Version 1703 Built 15063.540. Thanks for any idea.

I just got on my newer system and it does look like yours.

I also notice on the Drivers and Download window, upper right, there is an option to disable that notification.  But you probably don't have time to change that setting.

Saltgrass,

I can ensure you, that I have the latest version. If it comes to the disabling the "Sterowniki... (Drivers...)" in Settings, it's like you said - I don't have a time to perform this change; app crashes in a seconds.

To All,

I just upgraded my laptop (the only update was available for BIOS to be precise) via Dell's Support website and it worked! The SupportAssist does NOT crash any more. Please verify your machines.

Best Regards!

My system was already up to date (BIOS 1.3.4). But I managed to solve the problem with your advice. Before the program crash, I open the settings (gear icon in the upper right) and I disable the display of notifications in the system tray.

You have to be fast enough to do this before it goes off (I guess it's also probably doable by changing the registry or a configuration file).

Well, the problem is solved for my part, thank you all. Nevertheless, I think this is a global problem as many people seem to be affected.

A bios- update on my Dell Precision 7710 seemed to have solved the problem. The trick was, that I was not aware that a new bios was available since SupportAssist stopped working and crashed. Donwloading the new bios from Dell's Internet site was successfull.

I never use SupportAssist for anything.  I normally check for updates manually but there is a Dell Updater if I need it.

Kindly try to access this app as admin from the app menu, not from the first shortcut at the top of start menu programs. Right click >> more >> open as admin.

I have the same issue. Earlier support assist used to work. Now (past 5 months) it just freezes and then I have to end the task otherwise it doesn't close. I have i7-6700hq dell 7559, 64bit. I just removed it cause it is completely useless. Expected better from Dell
