SupportAssist makes my computer crash
Good Hello,
I have a problem with SupportAssist. As soon as it starts it makes my computer reboot with a blue screen and a page load up to 100%. I had installed software to update the drivers. I removed it thinking that's where it came from but nothing has changed though. I uninstalled SupportAssist as well but it's still the same. Which is why I'm coming to you. Thank you for your response.

Same thing happened to me. I downloaded Dell Support Assist from the Dell website and while it was testing it made my PC crash (twice). Upon first reboot the case fans began going up and down and both CPUs began running hot on idle, 50's and 60sC instead of 30s and 40's!!! I AM NOT HAPPY WITH DELL RIGHT NOW! I couldn't find anything unusual in the system bios. I ended-up re-installing the operating system and nothing has changed! My Dell Precision T7600 is running like the CPUs have been overclocked. CPUs are Intel Xeon E5-2687W, RAM is 32GB, graphics is EVGA GTX-1060 and OS is Win 10 Pro for WorkStations. I had just recently finished upgrading, spent hours and more than several hundred dollars. Everything was running great till this! WE TRUSTED YOU!

Sorry Dell! After researching the matter I found the problem had been MY FAULT, not Dell's! I had recently upgraded the CPUs in my Dell Precision T7600, but didn't upgrade the stock heatsinks nor cooling fans. Dell Support Assist, while testing my system, must have adjusted my CPU's frequency for better performance. Thus my barely efficient stock cooling fans/heatsinks with the upgraded, faster CPUs couldn't keep up. The CPUs overheated and the system crashed. My T7600 was fine after I read about how to change the Power Option in Control Panel to Power Saver then change the Power Plan settings in Processor Power Management. No more hot CPU temps on idle now! In fact my CPU idle temps are even cooler than before! Later I'll upgrade the stock heatsinks and cooling fans so I can change Power Plan to better performance.

As a fellow Dell user/customer of many years, I would like to commend you for acknowledging that the problem was not because of Dell SupportAssist or the Dell computer. So many complain here in these Forums, but seldom does anybody admit that it might be something that they did, or omitted to do.
Good for you. Have a great day.
Regards,
