Unable to install SupportAssist
I have used SUPPORTASSIST for years to keep the drivers on my Dell Computer up to date but the latest version will not install. Older versions are not available and will by default update to the newest version.
Granted, my system is older and out of warranty; I purchased a refurbished system from Amazon and have made several upgrades since then. Nevertheless I have a service tag: and Dell System Detect still recognizes my system as a Dell Computer ( Optiplex 980). In addition I’ve a current version of SUPPORTASSIST recently as a few days ago.
I reset my PC to deal with some minor issues (Windows 10) but when I tried to reinstall SUPPORTASSIST it automatically upgraded to the newest version which apparently cannot be installed.
“INSTALLATON CANCELLED; SupportAssist is only for computers from Dell and Alienware”
Somehow the latest version does not recognize my system. Any ideas on how I might fix that?
