Dell needs to update their graphic adapter drivers in the Download section on their Support Website for all modern desktop, workstations they have under support. Because the Dell graphic adapters are not a regular ADM graphic cards but Dell branded with their specific product number or code. And you can't go on the AMD website for new drivers, you need to rely on what Dell has on the website support. Sometimes even GPU-Z software doesn't understand what graphic chip is used inside the Dell video adapter.  Microsoft updates the Windows product line but Dell doesn't keep up with the changes by developing new drivers that's why you get into issues.

I got myself into one like this and I had to switch to the CPU onboard Intel video adapter, it happened at least every week or every two weeks - my i9 Optiplex 7070 suddenly goes into black screen, unresponsive but the desktop itself is powered on, system LED is on, fans and cooling working. Not reachable from the network. The only option is to cold reset or unplug the power, or 5 seconds from the power button.

Yeah I've tried all of those steps previously and nothing worked, to fix it I'm unsure what I should do next as it's been faulty for a while, and I'm pretty certain it's software related

@JRoberts11

By the symptoms that you have shared, it looks like a graphics driver issue.

Can you please share the graphics driver filename (Ex: AMD-Radeon-530-Driver_MV8YF_WIN_17.100.3501_A00.EXE) that you are currently using or the link where you have downloaded it from?

Meanwhile, I have found the latest graphics driver for Radeon 530, can you please try this on your laptop and see if it solves the issue?

@JRoberts11

All the symptoms that you have shared clearly look like a driver issue.

Can you please share the graphics driver file name that you have downloaded and currently installed? Ex: AMD-Radeon-530-Driver_D4NVK_WIN_26.20.11016.1_A01.EXE

Meanwhile, I just found that latest driver for Radeon 530, Can you please give this a try and see if it solves your issue?

So, this seems to have fixed it. I have ran a few things and everything's smooth like before. initially when downloading the update it was declining it and I had to download it a few times for it to allow me to install, but eventually after the 3rd time allowed me to. Thanks for the help

Okay so downloading that driver worked as a temporary fix. How do I find that file and what do you want me to do with the information?

so I had a further look into it and the error message has changed from "amdkmdap" to "amdkmdag" in the system event viewer and i'm unsure as to why.

Hi @JRoberts11

Did you get a chance to try the debug steps that I shared in a private message?

Ii have started having issues since the last Windows Update. I am on a Dell Optiplex 7070 with AMD graphics card installed. Screens go black for a few seconds and then recover. Twice it also caused a complete system shutdown. Trying to see what causes it and how to fix!!!
